PIG AND THE INEBRIATE



It was early last December, as near as I remember

I was walking down the street in tipsy pride

No one was I disturbing, as I lay down by the curbing

And a pig came up and lay down by my side



As I lay there in the gutter, thinking thoughts I cannot utter

A lady passing by was heard to say

"You can tell a man who boozes by the company he chooses"

And the pig got up and slowly walked away

C'était au début de décembre dernier, d'aussi loin que je me souvienne

Je marchais dans la rue avec une fierté enivrante

Personne ne me dérangeait, alors que je m'allongeais près du mur
Et un cochon est venu et s'est allongé à mes côtés



Alors que je m'allongeais là dans le caniveau, pensant des pensées que je ne pouvais pas prononcer
Une dame de passage a été entendue dire

"Vous pouvez dire à un homme qui boit par la compagnie qu'il choisit"

Et le cochon s'est levé et s'est éloigné lentement
